Foam molds are being used in many
projects.
These photos are from a reconstruction project (PCL company) of the historical City
Center Bridge in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. For this project several molds
were produced to cast (on-site) the ceilings of the Center Street Bridge pedestrian kiosks.
The Shapes were cut on an Aixia 128 foamcutter.
Producing the mold was a difficult but not daunting task for
Shirley Der, the artist creating the mold. A combination of compound curves, curved chamfers and keeping within
extreme tight tolerances made for a mold that would be nearly impossible to produce by any other method.
